Welcome! This wiki is designed to be a resource about school library facilities for those new to the role of Teacher-Librarian. The physical design of a school library determines how effectively students and staff are able to work, and how easily students are able to access resources. Our Resource Collection and Top 10 List focus on the fundamentals of a library facility so that it can provide Universal Design, technological access, flexible learning spaces, and a safe place for all. Many of the resources also illustrate and explain the Learning Commons model, that moves the library facility from a collection of library shelves to a 21st Century collaborative learning space.
Knowing that the age range of your students, the location of your school, and the age of your library facility may vary, we have aimed to provide resources that will assist and inspire all Teacher-Librarians. However, there are a few more specific resources for special considerations like renovating spaces or planning a new library. For more information about how our own library contexts and designs vary see the 'About Us' section!
